Syed Nasim Manzur elected chairman of Pioneer Insurance Company

Syed Nasim Manzur, a renowned industrialist and entrepreneur, has been unanimously elected the chairman of Pioneer Insurance Company Limited at the 235th Board meeting of the company on July 27, says a statement.

Mr. Manzur completed his B.Sc in economics in entrepreneurial management from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA, in 1990.

Currently, he is the chairman of Landmark Footwear Ltd. and Managing Director of Apex Footwear Limited.

Additionally, Mr. Manzur sits on the Boards of Apex Tannery Ltd, Apex Pharma Ltd., Blue Ocean Footwear Ltd., Grey Advertising Bangladesh Ltd., Quantum Consumer Solutions Ltd., Sunbeams School Ltd., and International Publications Ltd.

He is also serving as the president of Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) and Vice President of Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies.

He had served two terms as the president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI), the oldest business chamber in Bangladesh.

Mr. Manzur has a passion for art. He is the board member of Society for Promotion of Bangladesh Art (SPBA) and Friendship, an NGO.

He also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of BRAC University and as the chairman of the Finance Committee.

He was selected as committee member of various government/semi-government projects, such as Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (IDEA) Project, Tripartite Consulting Committee (TCC) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, and the National Committee for Export, which is chaired by the Prime Minister.

Now, he works as a core member of the Citizens Platform to support the government's efforts to pursue Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and as a member of the Board of Governors of Capital Market Stabilization Fund (CMSF).

Mr. Manzur is also a regular guest speaker at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) and the National Defence College (NDC).
