Role: National Programme Officer

  • Assist the Migration Health Officer in effectively implementing and overseeing IOM's emergency health initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of preparedness and response measures, covering a broad spectrum of activities.
  • Act as the representative of IOM in pertinent coordination meetings and maintain strong collaboration with local health authorities and partners, such as WHO, UNICEF, and other stakeholders in the field. Additionally, take a leading role in relevant health sector working groups or technical committees, such as the Mobile Medical Team Working Group and EPR technical committee.
  • Collaborate closely with the National Programme Office (Health Coordination) to facilitate the implementation of Tuberculosis, Malaria, and HIV control initiatives.
  • Work in tandem with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team and the health coordination/operation team to support the upkeep and accuracy of the program and disease surveillance information system. This includes managing databases related to case management, immunization campaigns, and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD).
  • Ensure the timely submission of weekly and monthly progress reports detailing activities undertaken, accomplishments achieved, and any challenges encountered. These reports should be communicated through established channels within the IOM Health unit, and pertinent information should be shared with the IOM Health Unit for weekly reviews and data consolidation, as well as dissemination to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and health cluster partners.
  • Fulfil any other responsibilities or tasks that may be assigned.

Requirements: 

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Medicine or Nursing from a recognized university.
  • Possess a Master's degree in Public Health from an accredited academic institution, which includes a background in epidemiology and hands-on experience in emergency mobile teams and first response.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of three years of practical experience in the field, actively engaged in the implementation of emergency health initiatives. This experience should encompass a range of activities, including those related to outbreak prevention, detection, and response for migrants, refugees, displaced persons, and other vulnerable populations. Additionally, this experience should extend to early recovery and post-crisis emergency health programming.
  • Exhibit a proven track record of effectively coordinating and liaising with government authorities, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the structures and functions of primary healthcare systems. Furthermore, showcases expertise in navigating the landscape of national, UN, and international health agencies and donors.

 

Job Location: Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Salary: Negotiable.
