Role: 

To ensure the quality of seed production, maintain the defined set of quality criteria to meet the requirements of the client or customer. Also, to help and ensure remedial efforts (if required) and detect recurrences or new instances of trouble immediately.

Job Responsibilities:

• Monitor the contract farmers’ selection of suitable land for seed production (rice, vegetable, maize and potato) and observe the land and seedbed (rice and vegetable) preparation.
• Observe and maintain the A-line and R-line (number of hill/unit area, row ratio, distance, tiller number/hill) correctly during the hybrid rice seed plantation.
• Organise block and plot during and after seed sowing
• Perform the off-types and weeding, rouging non-crossed and undesirable plants.
• Identify the disease and follow up spray of pesticides and water management.
• Maintain close supervision during the breeding period for crossing, bagging, pollination, mature fruit or grain collection, seed sample collection, seed admixture checking for varietal purity, sorting of different colour, shape and size fruits, germination rate, moisture content, curing and sorting and grading. 
• Check the quality of potato seed and preserve it in cold storage, along with checking the condition of cold storage: temperature, humidity, stacking of sack and removing.
• Participate in GOT of different seeds (Rice, vegetable, potato, maize), which includes land selection and preparation, material purchase, plantation, irrigation, fertilization, crop protection, data collection, harvesting, by-product sales, etc.
• Perform any other duties as and when assigned by the respective authority.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, and encourage others to do so.

Additional requirements:

• Experience in relevant fields will be given preference.
• Have practical knowledge of rice, vegetable, maize and potato seed production, sowing period, land and seedbed preparation, fertilizer and pesticides use, water management, weed management, pests and disease management and rouging
• Basic knowledge in identification of good quality seed, weeds and pests, disease and suppression techniques, and characters of male and female parents for hybrid seed production
• Solution-driven, smart, approachable and possesses the ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
• Must have the skill of multitasking
• Able to work under stressful situations
• Able to manage any unwanted situation

Educational Requirements

The candidate should have a Diploma in Agriculture/ Agronomy from any government-approved institute with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or 2nd division/ class or equivalent result in all academic examinations.
