Role: Head of Innovation

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the Executive Director and Senior Director in establishing BRAC’s overall innovation strategy and priorities.
  • Challenge organizational norms and capabilities to consider new and different opportunities, approaches, and methods. Effectively link proposed activities to innovation strategy and build alignment among stakeholders and the leadership team to support new ideas.
  • Lead innovation in areas not covered by existing BRAC programs or cross-programmatic social challenges by prioritizing 1-2 focus areas annually and working within the annual innovation budget to generate ideas to solve challenges within focus areas and develop offerings and prototypes.
  • Champion the innovation process at BRAC, including developing and maintaining methods and tools for the end-to-end innovation process.
  • Oversee all activities of Social Innovation Labs (SIL), including external donor-funded projects and internal activities like innovation forums and innovation adda.
  • Ensure consistent scanning of new ideas, resources, and technologies relevant to BRAC, sharing them internally and evaluating them to assist other programs in decision-making.
  • Identify projects/products/services with long-term growth potential and incubate them within SIL for future program adoption.
  • Support the adoption of human-centred design principles in new and existing projects at BRAC.
  • Lead the identification of technology-enabled use cases for development challenges, socializing use cases, and obtaining buy-in from the program and functional leadership.
  • Generate grants and resources for SIL’s work, from grant writing to donor relationship management.
  • Build leadership and management capacity in team members, supporting them to improve their communication skills and writing.

Safeguarding Responsibilities: 

  • Establish a safeguarding culture across all levels of the program by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment. 
  • Responsible for ensuring team members are appropriately trained, supported, and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and implemented by the safeguarding policy and procedure. 
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.

Requirements: 

  • Graduation preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, Development, or Design/Innovation related field. 
  • Minimum eight (08) years of experience in the relevant field.

Additional Requirements: 

  • Prior experience in relationship management (both internal and external).
  • Strong communication skills—oral and written, ideally in Bengali and English.
  • Strong acumen in using analytics.
  • Comfortable working across several sectors and developing new domain knowledge.
