Lipi Ghor: A revolution in the arena of Bengali font

Liphi Ghor is a pioneer when it comes to conceptualising and popularising ideas regarding the Bangla font. Their journey started in 2018 when Niladri Shekhar Bala from West Bengal and Nurul Islam Ador from Bangladesh got acquainted through a Facebook group. They later realised that they had a passion in common, Bangla.

Hence, they both decided to create a foundry focusing on Bengali fonts, Lipi Ghor. The main goal of creating Lipi Ghor was to introduce many fonts for writing Bangla online, something that did not have much footing before.

Lipi Ghor has created as many as 221 different fonts for Bengali language users in the last five years. Most of these fonts can be downloaded for free online.

They also create a lot of expensive fonts for the users and keyboard layouts, which are four in total at this moment, but they are willing to create even more.

Liphi Ghor is also inspiring young people to come forward and contribute to the arena of Bangla. Alinur Islam, the current managing director of the foundry, found out while using Facebook that there are not enough fonts when it comes to writing Bangla. Lipi Ghor's initial works with Bangla fonts inspired him to join the company.

Although Lipi Ghor focused on providing free fonts at once, since they have to pay their typeface designers now, they are more focused on premium fonts, yielding about Tk 100 per font. Through Google Adsense, the foundry earns about 3 to 9 thousand taka per month.

Bangla fonts online are becoming more and more diverse with time, and it cannot be denied that Lipi Ghor has played an instrumental role in popularising and developing new Bangla fonts.
