A case was registered following clashes and scuffles between players in the 'Celebrity Cricket League', an event featuring artists from Bangladesh's entertainment industry.

While several individuals involved in the incident have reportedly been identified through video footage, details about the accused, the plaintiff, and the police station involved were not disclosed, reports bdnews24.com.

"A case has been filed against those involved in this incident, and the legal process will take its course," Masudur Rahman, chief executive of the event's organiser Generation Next, said at a media briefing on Saturday.

Film producer Arshad Adnan, who was present at the conference, said ‘four or five people’ were identified through closed-circuit camera videos. "I requested Generation Next to take official action, which they have promptly initiated. We will provide the details soon."

But Masudur refused to name the people accused in the case.

"If they do not rectify their behaviour, we may consider revealing their names later. This decision was made after discussions with both team captains and our senior members."

Asked about the nature of the case, he said it involves public disorder charges.

The competition was organised to boost the morale of the Bangladesh cricket team ahead of the ICC Men's World Cup in India. However, the event descended into chaos on Friday after filmmaker Dipankar Dipan's team narrowly lost to Mostafa Kamal Raz's team at Dhaka's Mirpur Indoor Stadium.

Tensions began to escalate after the match when a verbal spat ensued between players from both sides, leading to a physical altercation.

Several people, including Shishir Sardar, Raj Ripa, Joy Chowdhury, Atiqur Rahman, Sheikh Shuvo, and Ashiq Zahid, suffered injuries during the brawl and received first aid at the hospital.

Consequently, the third and final day of the league, scheduled for Saturday, had to be suspended.
