Veteran journalist and TV presenter Shafik Rehman is set to revive his popular television programme Lal Golap after an eight-year hiatus.
According to him, two episodes have already been recorded, with the show slated to air on a private channel from December 1, local media reports.
Rehman, the founding editor of Weekly Jai Jai Din and Daily Jai Jai Din, gained widespread recognition as the host of Lal Golap, which debuted on BTV during the BNP-Jamaat coalition government and later aired on Banglavision from 2010.
The show, known for its focus on domestic and international events, features discussions on topical issues and film clips.
Rehman recently returned to Bangladesh on August 18 after six years in the UK. In 2023, he was sentenced to seven years in prison for his alleged involvement in a plot to kidnap and kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the son of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Arrested in 2016, Rehman spent five months in jail before being granted bail in 2018.
