Khichuri and Bengali people are inseparable. Whether served with fried Ilish, mashed potato, or a plain omelette, a steamy-hot khichuri goes well with every side dish. Especially on a rainy day, a plate of khichuri with different types of fries or mashed veggies is a cherry on top.

Many khichuri places in Dhaka offer decent servings at an affordable price range. However, some areas have gained popularity for their mouth-watering khichuri taste. We shall explore some of those options today.

Ghoroa Hotel

The soft, porridge-like khichuri of Ghoroa Hotel has been passed down through generations. Situated at Motijheel, Ghoroa serves the best soft khichuri in town.

It has kept its appeal to ordinary people for years. One plate of soft khichuri will come with two medium-sized mutton pieces. Despite some complaints about the mutton pieces becoming smaller over time, everyone agrees that the flavour remains the same.

Many loyal customers have noted this consistency in taste, which continues to draw them back despite the size issue.

Lalbag Biriyani House

A plate of beef bhuna khichuri from Lalbag Biriyani's house will satiate your mind and hunger. The price is also very reasonable, considering the generous quantity.

Consider ordering half a plate if you are dining solo. A full plate can be easily shared with a friend. A half khichuri will cost you 100 tk and a full 200 tk. Situated outside Keari Plaza, Dhanmondi, this restaurant might be the best spot on a rainy day to satisfy your cravings.

Nababi Biriyani and Khichuri House

This restaurant serves khichuri with special mustard oil, which adds a tempting flavour. Most people like the smell because it gives the food a homely feel.

Many small pieces of beef mixed with rice make the dish more delightful. Their khichuri is often sold out by the afternoon, so if you are planning a visit, make sure to go early. You will get Nababi. Biriyani at Haarbhangar Mor, Khilgaon.

Hirajheel Hotel

Hirajheel Hotel is a traditional food place in Motijheel (near ShaplaChattar). Their menu offers three types of khichuri: beef, chicken, and mutton.

For the mutton bhuna khichuri and beef bhuna khichuri, you must pay 240 taka, and chicken bhuna khichuri will cost you 230 taka. However, if you want to take a plate of plain khichuri without meat, you only have to pay 90 taka.

Hirajheel will undoubtedly be the perfect venue for those who like spicy khichuri. They prepare dishes with a lot of spice, and the khichuri is also garnished with coriander for flavour enhancement.

Bismillah Hotel

Unlike other khichuri places, where meat is only served as a side dish, Bismillah Hotel offers a variety of options.

Different choices have been made to give customers more flexibility for vegetable khichuri, egg khichuri, beef khichuri, etc.

The khichuri of Bismillah Hotel at Mirpur 12's Muslim Bazar starts from only 40 taka. Egg khichuri will come at 60 taka, beef khichuri at 120 taka, and chicken khichuri with a roast and a boiled egg will cost you 160 taka. This hotel has six branches in Dhaka, each renowned for signature dishes. It is often crowded and stays open until 1 in the morning.

Shamsher Alir Bhuna Khichuri

People have contradictions regarding this recently trending khichuri place. Few love the taste, while others complained about it being overrated. However, it would help if you visited ShaatRawja (Abul Hasnat Road) to try it yourself.

The place is usually open from 11 am to 11 pm. A regular chicken cheap khichuri will cost you 280 taka; a premium box drumstick khichuri will come at 320 taka; a unique leg piece khichuri full box at 400 taka; and a full plate and small leg piece khichuri at 220 taka.

You might order Burhani as a drink, which will cost 200 taka for 2 litres, 100 taka for 1 litre, and 50 taka for a glass. The speciality of their khichuri is the prominent lentil flavour in all of their dishes.

Iqbal Bhai er bhorta-khichuri

Hundreds of khichuri lovers visit a roadside cart at Azimpur daily from the evening until late at night. You will get five types of short: mashed dried fish (shut), mashed onion, lentils, nuts, and mashed naga march.

The onion and the nuts are the most demanding. One plate of khichuri costs 40 takas and has unlimited shorts.

Moreover, you will be served salad within 40 minutes. But you must pay only takaTK ten more if you want an omelette.

Beef and beef noli are also available in their cart. They vary in size from 200 taka to 300 taka. Apart from them, regular-sized beef with your khichuri will cost you 100 taka.

Mirpur Cart Khichuri

A female entrepreneur from Mirpur has made waves with her cart shop for Khichuri. The menu is diverse, featuring Beef chuijhaal, mutton chuijhaal, chicken jhaal fry, beef noli, fried Ilish, egg curry, chicken roast, omelette, and bhorta as side dishes with khichuri.

The fish is fried with mustard oil, and the chicken roast is made with pasted nuts, adding unique flavours to the dishes. A plate of bhorta khichuri is priced at 60 taka, while beef chuijhaal khichuri is priced at 150 taka, with bhorta included. The short options include spicy mashed coriander, chepashutki, black cumin (kalo jeera), and mashed nuts. The owner shared that the mashed nuts are the most popular in her cart. The cart is usually open in the evening.
