The rain dropped lightly on the windows, giving it the ideal morning to stay under a warm cover. Outside, everything was quiet, with a light rain pouring. It was the kind of day that made us want to stay inside with a hot drink like tea or coffee, a good book, and a place to escape the rainy streets.
But as life progresses, even when it rains, we must accomplish things outside of our comfort zone, such as work, classes, errands, and so on. Even though we'd rather stay inside, the day goes on, as does our routine.
During the rainy season, it's hard to avoid the wet and muddy streets, and our feet often get wet. When we step outside in the morning, puddles splash, and our shoes get soaked quickly. It's a common problem—trying to keep our feet dry in the rain.
While the rain can be nice, it also brings challenges for foot care. Whether we're going to work, a lecture, or running errands, our feet are exposed to water, which can cause infections, dryness, and irritation. So, taking care of our feet is even more critical during this time.
So how do we keep our feet healthy when the rain won't stop? While we may not be able to control the weather, we can undoubtedly take a few extra steps to keep our feet healthy and looking good with some simple home remedies. Here are some home remedies that are monsoon foot care essentials:
Warm-water-soak
Soak your feet in warm water with a few drops of antibacterial soap or a gentle foot-soaked solution for 10-15 minutes. This will help clean your feet, ease any discomfort, and soften your skin.
Lemon juice scrub
Combine a few drops of lemon juice with granulated sugar to create a straightforward scrub. Gently massage this mixture on your feet to exfoliate dead skin cells, leaving your feet feeling refreshed.
Aloe Vera gel
Apply fresh aloe vera gel to your feet to moisturize and soothe irritated skin. Aloe vera's cooling properties can also alleviate itching and inflammation.
Baking Soda paste
Make a paste using baking soda and water, and apply it to your feet. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing off. Baking soda helps neutralize odours, reduces itching, and exfoliates the skin.
Vinegar soak
Mix equal parts vinegar and warm water for a foot soak. Submerge your feet up to your ankles for 10-15 minutes. Vinegar's antifungal and antibacterial properties can help prevent foot infections and reduce foot odour.
Tea tree oil treatment
Dilute a few drops of tea tree oil in a carrier oil like coconut or olive oil and apply it to your feet. The antifungal and antibacterial qualities of tea tree oil can help prevent and treat fungal infections.
Honey foot mask
Mix honey with a little bit of coconut oil and apply this mask to your feet. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Honey is a natural moisturizer with antibacterial properties that can soften and heal cracked or dry skin.
Coconut oil massage
Before bed, massage your feet with warm coconut oil. It deeply hydrates the skin, promotes healing, and protects against infections, making it an excellent remedy for dry and cracked feet.
