At least 12 people were injured in a clash between supporters of Awami League candidate, actor Ferdous Ahmed, during his campaign on Central Road in the capital, according to local media.

The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Sub-Inspector Kamal Uddin Munshi of New Market Police Station said the altercation began over disagreements regarding who would accompany Ahmed.

Two supporters suffered broken hands, said Sahed Ali, vice president of the Awami League's 18th Unit.

Efforts to contact Ahmed for a comment were unsuccessful, according to the media report.

Inspector Hawlader Arpit Thakur, quoting local AL leaders, said that the issue, being an internal party matter, was resolved internally.
