The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Tuesday demolished 150 stalls and rides installed at an illegal fair in the capital city's Paris Road ground in Mirpur Section 11.
Zonal Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Ziaur Rahman, and DNCC Estate Officer Farzana Khanom led a drive in the neighbourhood, said a statement.
Ziaur Rahman said they received information that an unauthorized fair was being held in the area which was set up without any permission from the authorities concerned.
"As there was no legal approval, all the structures have been removed to free the field from illegal occupation," he said.
The DNCC will not allow the establishment of any fair or event taking place on fields or parks without proper permission within its jurisdiction, he said, adding that such drives will continue.
The DNCC is committed to preventing illegal occupation of public spaces and ensuring proper use of parks and fields in the city, added Mr Rahman.
