Two local traders were injured in misfires during the annual firearm testing of a private bank at Madunaghat Police Investigation Centre in Hathazari of Chattogram on Tuesday.
According to UNB, the injured were identified as Nurul Absar, 43, son of Nurul Islam, and Yakub Ali, 55, son of Kabir Ahmed of Uttar Burishchar under Fatehpur union of the Hathazari upazila.
Locals and law enforcement agency said police were testing a shotgun loaded with bullets in an open area behind the bank. Suddenly, stray pellets struck the two businessmen standing in front of their shops.
Later, the injured were taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital while Nurul Absar was admitted and Yakub was released after giving first aid.
When called, an officer from the bank's branch declined to comment in this regard and confirm whether the shotgun involved belonged to their bank.
Moin Uddin Sumon, in-charge of the investigation centre, confirmed the matter saying that a general diary (GD) was lodged and higher authorities were apprised for further action.
