As many as 567 undocumented foreign nationals, including 252 Bangladeshi citizens, were arrested in Malaysia during a raid on Saturday morning (Malaysia local time).
Among other detainees, 163 are Nepalese, 75 are Myanmar citizens, 72 are Indonesians, 4 are Filipinos and one is Indian, according to a Malaysia-based English-language newspaper.
They were accused of not possessing valid identification documents and expired temporary work permits.
The Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department said they conducted the raid at Abdullah Hukum Apartment in Jalan Bangsar after a week-long investigation following public complaints about the influx of foreign residents causing concern in the local community.
The department official said they have detained 528 males, 38 females, and a child.
