35 Bangladeshi nationals detained in Malaysia

A total of 50 illegal immigrants, including 35 Bangladeshi nationals, were arrested in Malaysia on charges of illegally employing foreign workers in garment factories in the country.

According to a statement released by the Immigration Department of Malaysia on Saturday, this operation started in the Cheras district of Kuala Lumpur around 9:30 pm on December 11.

Based on public complaints and intelligence, they conducted the raids and arrested a 46-year-old Bangladeshi national, said the statement.

A case has been filed against him for illegally employing foreign workers, as per media reports.

Later, 34 Bangladeshi nationals and 15 Myanmar women have been arrested from the garment factory. All of them are between 20 and 60 years of age.

After conducting the raid, 40 cards and various sewing tools were seized from the factory.

According to the statement, the garment factory is said to have been operating for the past two years.
