The Public Service Commission, or PSC, has extended the online application period for the 47th Bangladesh Civil Service examination.
Although the deadline for the BCS application submission is Jan 30, the commission has given the opportunity to the candidates to apply online until Feb 27.
PSC spokesperson SM Matiur Rahman told on Tuesday afternoon, “The last date for submission of applications for the 47th BCS has been set for Feb 27 at 11:59pm instead of Jan 30.
“The candidates who will apply and receive the user ID during this period can submit the fee through SMS until 11:59pm on Mar 2.”
He said the candidates appearing in any of the qualifying examinations for the BCS will get the opportunity to apply as the deadline has been extended.
The PSC also issued a statement confirming the extension of the application period until Feb 27.
The commission began accepting applications for the 47th BCS on Dec 29. Candidates can fill out the application from the website.
Appointments to 3,688 government jobs are up for grabs in the 47th BCS. Of them, 3,487 are cadre posts, while 201 are non-cadre.
Candidates with a minimum age of 21 years and a maximum age of 32 years can apply to the 47th BCS.
REDUCTION OF MARKS AND FEES
The Ministry of Public Administration amended the Bangladesh Civil Service (age, qualifications, and examination for direct recruitment) Rules, 2014, reducing the application fee from Tk 700 to Tk 200.
For the disadvantaged groups, the fee was further reduced from Tk 100 to Tk 50.
In addition, the score for the oral examination has been reduced from 200 to 100.
According to the 47th BCS notification, the preliminary test is likely to be held in May this year.
The specific date, schedule, and instructions of the examination will be published on the commission’s site and media in due course.
Examinees have to answer 200 MCQ questions in two hours. Each correct answer will add a mark while 0.50 marks will be deducted from the total for each incorrect answer.
