Four passengers and the driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed after the three-wheeler was rammed by a train while going over Rashidnagar railway crossing in Ramu, Cox's Bazar on Saturday.
Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge Taibur Rahman said the deceased include driver Shahab Uddin, passenger Morjina and her child, while identities of two other victims could not be known immediately.
The passengers were going to Cox's Bazar town from Bharuakhali in Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila. He said that similar accidents have occurred several times in the same spot before.
Assistant Station Master of the Ramu Railway Station Abdul Qayum said the Cox's Bazar Express train dragged the auto-rickshaw for about half a kilometer. Three died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries in Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
