The advisers to the interim government, led by Nobel Laureate economist Dr Muhammad Yunus, have been named.
Of the advisers, two are coordinators of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. They are Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan.
The list of other advisers is as follows:
- Saleh Uddin Ahmed (Former Bangladesh Bank governor)
- Dr Asif Nazrul (Professor of Dhaka University)
- Adilur Rahman Khan (Secretary of the human rights organisation Odhikar)
- AF Hassan Ariff (Former caretaker government adviser and attorney general)
- Touhid Hossain (Former foreign secretary)
- Syeda Rizwana Hasan (Supreme Court lawyer and chief executive of the Bangladesh Environment Lawyers’ Association)
- Md Nahid Islam (coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement)
- Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan (coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement)
- Brigadier General (rtd) M Sakhawat Hossain (Security analyst)
- Supradip Chakma (chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board)
- Farida Akhter (Executive director of UBINIG - Policy Research For Development Alternative)
- Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy (Former director of National Institute of Mental Health & Hospital)
- A F M Khalid Hasan (Former Nayeb-e-Amir of Hefazat-e-Islam)
- Nurjahan Begum (former managing director of Grameen Bank)
- Sharmin Murshid (Chief executive of non-government organisation Brotee)
- Farooq-E-Azam (Representative of the Islamic scholars)
The advisers will take oath at 8:30pm this night, according to Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman.
