Another Bangladeshi has gone missing from Kolkata, the capital of India’s West Bengal State, just a month after a Bangladeshi lawmaker vanished there, a senior police officer said on Thursday.

The police police have started an investigation to find the missing Bangladeshi national, who has been identified as 23-year-old Mohammad Delwar Hossain, he said.

According to PTI news agency, the officer said Delwar arrived in Kolkata for medical treatment on June 18 and was staying at a hotel on Mirza Ghalib Street.

"We’re checking the CCTV footage of the hotel as well as those around the area where the hotel is situated. We are investigating the matter," he told PTI.

Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anar, who was visiting India for medical treatment, went missing on May 12.

Detectives believe Anar was murdered by a group of people inside a flat in the New Town area in Kolkata. The killers are believed to have mutilated Anar's body into several parts.

Police have arrested several persons for their suspected involvement in the murder of the lawmaker.
