Jashore on Tuesday recorded the highest temperature of this season at 43.8 degrees Celsius. This is also the highest temperature registered in the country's history since 1989.

Earlier, a temperature of 43.7 degrees was recorded in Chuadanga. The district’s Meteorological Office recorded this temperature at 3:00 pm on Tuesday.

The highest temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 38.6 degrees Celsius today.

People's life has been heavily disrupted by the intense heat. Low-income earners including farmers, day labourers and transport workers across the country face difficulties due to persistent heatwaves.

The meteorologist, however, said that it may take a few more days for the mercury to drop to normal.
