Banks are instructed to submit information on the bank accounts of deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust founded under their father's name,
Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) sent in a letter to the banks last week with the instructions.
Sheikh Hasina serves as chairperson of the Bangabandhu trust while Sheikh Rehana is one of its trustees, the financial intelligence mentions in the letter.
The BFIU also has asked the banks to submit details about other individuals associated with the trust fund and "any accounts to which funds from the trust were transferred".
Banks also have to submit all the relevant information, including transaction records, account-opening forms and other related information, within five working days, it notes.
Besides, banks have been asked to provide account details of Chowdhury Jafarullah Sarafat, a well-known sports commentator, as well as his brother Chowdhury Habibullah Sarafat and his sister Dalia Chowdhury.
