Bangladesh to open HSC exams on Jun 26

The Higher Secondary Certificate, or HSC, and equivalent exams are scheduled to begin on Jun 26, with theoretical exams running until Aug 10.

The Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education released the exam schedule on Wednesday.

The 2025 HSC and equivalent exams will follow the shortened syllabus from 2023. Unlike previous years, all subjects will be tested with full marks and the standard exam duration.

The theoretical exams will run until Aug 10, followed by practical exams from Aug 11-28.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES

Students must take their seats at least 30 minutes before the exam starts. The multiple-choice section will be conducted first, followed by the creative/descriptive (theoretical) section. The MCQ portion will last 30 minutes for a 30-mark test, while the creative section will take 2 hours and 30 minutes for a 70-mark test.

For subjects with practical components, the MCQ section will be 25 minutes long for a 25-mark test, while the creative section will last 2 hours and 35 minutes for a 50-mark test. Exams will be held without any breaks between the MCQ and creative sections.

For exams starting at 10am, answer scripts and MCQ OMR sheets will be handed out at 9:30am. The MCQ question papers will be given at 10am.
