Saudi Arabian employers will pay a lower amount of migration costs to recruit domestic workers from Bangladesh and five other countries following a decision taken by the kingdom.
Recently, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced a reduction in the fees, paid by employers for recruiting domestic workers from Bangladesh, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia.
Saudi Arabia-bound Bangladeshi domestic workers will get around Tk 342,940 from now on. Earlier, they used to get more than Tk 379,400 as migration costs.
According to Gulf News, the government of Saudi Arabia said they took the decision as part of their efforts to review and regulate recruitment costs, ensuring fair pricing in line with the changing costs in the recruitment industry.
