A court in Dhaka has granted a five-day remand to interrogate Barrister Syed Syedul Haque Suman, the former member of parliament from Habiganj-4 constituency, in a case filed over an attempted murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zakir Hossain granted the remand when Mirpur Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Abdul Halim, the investigation officer in the case, produced Barrister Syed Syedul Haque Suman before the court with an application of a 10-day remand on Tuesday.

The court also rejected a bail plea submitted by Barrister Syed Syedul Haque Suman’s counsel.

Barrister Syed Syedul Haque Suman was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday from the Mirpur area of Dhaka.

The case was filed on September 23 as a restaurant worker Hridoy Miah was shot when he participated in a rally on July 19 during the anti-discrimination student movement.
