BGB deployed as DU, seven college students clash at Nilkhet

Four platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh, or BGB, have been deployed to avert escalating violence following a tense standoff between Dhaka University students and students of its affiliated seven colleges.

A message sent shortly after Sunday midnight said, "Dhaka University and seven college students are in a standoff at Nilkhet intersection. To maintain order, four BGB platoons have been deployed with police assistance."

Clashes erupted after students of the seven colleges began demonstrating in the streets on Sunday evening, later moving toward the Dhaka University area, according to a bdnews24.com report.

This led to a confrontation with Dhaka University students.
