Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has expressed optimism that the upcoming Amar Ekushey Book Fair will be held at Suhrawardy Udyan, despite a recent directive from the housing and public works ministry to move it to the Bangla Academy premises.
"We have spoken with the housing and public works advisor regarding the book fair. The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs is also involved, and discussions have been held there as well. I can say that we are heading towards a positive outcome," he told the journalists at the Secretariat on Wednesday, reports bdnews24.com.
He added, "We are hopeful that the fair will be held at the same place as before, and it will be organised beautifully without any issues. Three ministries are already working on this, and meetings have been held, with more to follow."
When asked if the fair would definitely take place at the traditional venue, Farooki said: "It can be hoped."
The adviser was speaking after a meeting with the Group Theatre Federation.
