The Bangladesh Police Service Association (BPSA) has called for greater caution in media coverage of police personnel, alleging that recent reports about former and current members have been partial and biased.
In a statement released on Friday, the BPSA urged journalists to adhere more rigorously to ethical guidelines when reporting on the police force.
The association's plea follows recent media reports on the assets of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and his family, as well as former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia and his family.
Former IGP Ahmed left the country with his family on May 4, shortly after the ACC started its inquiry.
