The telecoms regulator BTRC has opened a control room at its headquarters to keep telecommunications safe and working during super-cyclone Mocha.
The Bangladesh Teleco-mmunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has also opened two Teletalk numbers-01552202854 and 01552202886-for emergency communication, said BTRC deputy director (media and publications) Zakir Hossain Khan.
In a press statement, Mr Khan said all the subordinate organisations under Post and Telecommunication Division have already been given necessary preparedness instructions to face Mocha.
All the licensees concerned have been instructed as well to take action and a monitoring team has been formed in BTRC in this regard," he cited.
The control room is basically coordinating the monitoring team and how the licensees operating in coastal areas are working to cope with Mocha.
Apart from this, cellphone operators, Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network, internet service providers and other licensees concerned can inform the control room if they face any operational problem in coastal areas.
The cyclone was predicted to make landfall on Cox's Bazar and Myanmar coasts on Sunday morning," according to the Met office.
