Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL) has frozen six BO (beneficiary owner’s) accounts of the former police chief Benazir Ahmed and his family members.

The depository authority on Monday froze the accounts following an order issued by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).

Of the six BO accounts, two were opened in the name of Benazir Ahmed while two were opened in the name of his wife, and the remaining two were in the name of his one daughter.

The CDBL officials said the regulatory directive came in line with an order issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court on May 23.

Of the two accounts of his wife Zeeshan Mirza, one was opened in EBL Securities and another in Southeast Bank Capital Services.

Benazir’s daughter Tahseen Raisa Binte Benzir opened one account in EBL Securities and another in Dynasty Securities.

Asked about the assets in two accounts opened with EBL Securities, its Managing Director Md Sayadur Rahman said he was not aware of such accounts.

As per the BSEC order, except for deposition no transactions and withdrawals will be allowed in the accounts until further order.

The dividends against their shares will be deposited into the accounts following any corporate declarations of the listed issuer companies.
