Dhaka Education Board chief Tapan Kumar submitted an application to the Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education on Monday requesting to withdraw him from the board and transfer him to his workplace or elsewhere.
Ministry of Education and Dhaka Education Board revealed this information to a local news agency.
Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar announced his resignation on Sunday in the face of protest and blockade by a group of students who failed in HSC.
Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar said in solidarity with the students' demand for revaluation of the results, "The students have asked for my resignation." If they suspend the movement if I resign then I will resign. I will submit my resignation letter on Monday.”
A group of students who failed in HSC gathered in front of the Dhaka Education Board with a procession around 11 o'clock on Sunday. At one stage they locked the main gate of the board. Around 2:30 in the afternoon, they broke the lock and entered the board and went to the chairman's room. There are also allegations of vandalism.
At that time students were attacked. It was reported that some students were injured. The students claimed that the officials and employees of the board were involved in the incident and demanded disciplinary action against them.
