Chinese envoy visits Grameen Bank

Mr Yao Wen, the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, and Madam Li Yu, the spouse of the ambassador visited the Grameen Bank Jobra Branch, the Jobra Museum, and local villagers on Friday.

During the visit, Mr Yao Wen and Ms Li Yu had gained a detailed understanding of the development history of Grameen Bank and expressed appreciation for its contributions in enhancing the well-being of the common people in Bangladesh, said a spokesman of the Chinese Embassy.

It may be mentioned that Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, the pioneer in promoting microcredit for the poor throughout the world, is the founder of the Grameen Bank.

Dr Yunus launched his first microcredit project at Jobra village.
