The Chattogram district administration has closed the 'Chittagong Shishu Park' in the port city's Kazir Dewri area.
The main gates of the children's park were padlocked on Monday afternoon and a notice was later hung there.
The administration has transferred the land of the park to defence ministry.
Executive magistrates of the Chattogram district administration Nyu A Mong Marma and Rakibul Hasan led the drive to close the park.
The notice reads: "Property of the Ministry of Defence. No unauthorised entry" as ordered by the military estates officer, eastern zone, Chattogram Cantonment.
Mr Hasan said, "The land belongs to the defence ministry. We closed the park in the presence of their executive officer. The land has been handed over to them."
The Chattogram Shishu Park is located next to the Circuit House.
On 17 December 1971, local freedom fighters hoisted the first flag of an independent Bangladesh in Chattogram in front of the Circuit House.
Local lawmaker and deputy minister for education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel, who is also the chairman of Muktijuddher Bijoy Mela, was adamant about the park's closure.
