The gunman of former Awami League lawmaker Reza Ali, who was reportedly hit by a bullet from his own gun in an accidental shooting on Saturday, died at a Mymensingh hospital on Sunday.
Gunman Asgar Ali Khan, 45, succumbed to his injuries at the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) in the morning.
Officer-in-charge of Trishal Police Station Jakiur Rahman said Asgar sustained injuries as he was hit by a bullet which went off from his licensed shotgun accidentally while cleaning it at Reza's residence on Saturday morning, said a UNB report.
Later, he was taken to the MMCH.
A retired army man hailing from Khulna, Asgar had been working for the ex-MP for the last two years.
Reza Ali said he was sleeping when the accident happened.
