SSC candidate ‘kills himself’ after getting GPA 4.89

Eight students have reportedly committed suicide after failing to get their desired results in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, published on Sunday.

Among them, an SSC candidate, Rafsan Jani Emil, from Nilphamari’s Saidpur reportedly committed suicide after failing to get a GPA-5.

Rafsan Jani Emil participated in this year’s SSC examination from Lions School and College in Saidpur. He expected to achieve GPA-5 in the examination. But he got a GPA-4.89.

Local news portals said his hanging body was recovered from his home in the Bangalipur area in Saidpur on Sunday afternoon.

Seven other SSC candidates from Noakhali, Thakurgaon, Mymensingh, Jhenaidah, Gopalganj, Habiganj and Magura reportedly committed suicide after being failed to pass the examination.

Police stations in these areas have taken legal steps over the deaths.

Besides, three students inhaled poison after failing the examinations in Habiganj. Later, they were taken to Habiganj District Hospital for treatment.
