The inhabitants of the Ashrayon Prokolpo, established by the LGED for landless families, have been suffering much due to its location on low land and lack of road link.

The families living in the project area located at Sridhampur under Bodolpur union of Ajmiriganj upazila in Habiganj district have been suffering for want of drinking water. Of the two tubewells, one has been lying out of order months after its sinking.

The inmates have to move to other places crossing over a bamboo-made bridge as the area is marshy. Many of them were contemplating to leave the houses for safer places.

The 18 small houses with electricity, water, toilet and kitchen facilities were handed over to the ultra poor families of the remote upazila on June 30, 2021. But by now the inmates face troubles due to the absence of road while some have to use the backyard of some neighbouring houses. But they are often not allowed to use those private stretches. This is why the families have to use only the bamboo-made bridge for getting out of the Ashrayon prokolpo site.

The inmates said the houses were very helpful for the homeless people. But, the devastating floods in 2022 badly hit the region while ditches had been developed in the courtyards. The area has now turned into a lower zone as the soil is washed away. We can't get out of the project area as all those are the lands owned by other villagers. We had informed the upazila officials of the situation, they added.
