A Dhaka court has ordered the confiscation of both movable and immovable properties belonging to Quazi Abu Mahmud Faisal, the first secretary of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain issued the order following a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Under the order, a flat and two 10-katha plots belonging to Faisal will be confiscated, according to court sources.
Besides, saving certificates worth Tk 20 million held by the NBR first secretary, his wife and other related parties will be frozen, court sources said.
ACC Public Prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajol said that Faisal has opened over 700 accounts in his and his relatives' names to conceal the sources of his illicit income.
