Haider Akbar Khan Rono, adviser to the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and a valiant freedom fighter, has been laid to rest. He was buried at Banani Graveyard in the capital at around 3:00 pm on Monday.
Prior to the burial, a namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer) was held for him at the Dhaka University Central Mosque at 1:30 pm.
Rono's body was brought to the CPB's central office Mukti Bhaban in Paltan at 10:00 am, where party leaders paid their respects.
After the tributes, a procession was taken out with Rono's body to Shaheed Minar at 11:25 am. He was given a 'state guard of honour' at Shaheed Minar at 11:30 am.
Rono's body was then kept at Shaheed Minar for people from all walks of life to pay their respects.
The CPB is observing a nationwide day of mourning today in honour of Haider Akbar Khan Rono.
