The Airport Police of DMP arrested a total of 78 hijackers in the capital's airport area in October.
According to sources from the Airport Police Station, officers arrested the hijackers at different times while they attempted to rob pedestrians and foreign passengers of their valuables in various locations under the station’s jurisdiction, including the airport roundabout area, UNB reports.
Special teams from the airport police conduct regular operations in these areas to prevent hijacking incidents.
The sources also noted that nearly all of those arrested have multiple cases filed against them at various DMP police stations.
