Cops kill rape suspect in Feni ‘shootout’

Police have killed a man accused in six criminal cases in a gunfight in Feni. The shootout took place in Daganbhuiyan upazila’s Khushipur village early Wednesday, said local police station chief Abul Kalam Azad.

The deceased has been identified as Musa Al Masum, a fugitive accused of raping a physically challenged woman in Feni.

Police arrested Musa and took him along in a raid in Khushipur village. His accomplices opened fire on the police, forcing them to retaliate. Musa died on the spot while four police personnel were injured in the shootout.

A shotgun and six rounds of ammunition were recovered from the scene. Musa was named in six cases including robbery, rape and murder, according to the police, reports bdnews24.
