Police have recovered the bloodied body of a pregnant woman and her husband's hanging corpse from a home in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh.

Authorities suspect the man died by suicide shortly after killing his wife following a domestic dispute, reports bdnews24.com.

The incident occurred on Friday night in Palgaon village, said Shamsul Huda Khan, chief of Bhaluka Model Police Station.

The couple, 30-year-old Ratna Begum and 35-year-old Kamrul Islam, leaves behind a five-year-old son.

Kamrul took his wife Ratna to her parents' house in Palgaon on Friday afternoon as she was nearing the delivery of their second child, the OC said, citing relatives.

“After dinner, the couple put their son to bed at his grandmother's house and went to sleep in a separate room. However, around 10pm, when the child started crying, his grandmother Monwara Begum went to check on them but found the door locked.

"Suspicious, she broke open the door and found Ratna’s bloodied body lying on the floor. Kamrul’s body was found hanging nearby with a scarf tied around his neck," Shamsul said.

Neighbours subsequently alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies for post-mortem examination.

"Initial findings suggest that the incident may be linked to a family dispute," Shamsul said.

Police are investigating the matter.
