Six coordinators of the quota reform and Anti-discrimination Student Movement are currently in the custody of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) for 'security reasons'. Various quarters have already demanded the release of these coordinators. However, the DB has said that no decision has yet been made to release these six coordinators.

On Tuesday (July 30), Additional Commissioner (DB) of DMP Harun-or-Rashid said that no decision has yet been made to release the six coordinators of the quota reform movement.

Earlier, the civil society issued an ultimatum demanding the release of the six coordinators of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement - Nahid Islam, Abu Baker Mazumdar, Asif Mahmud, Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah and Nusrat Tabassum, along with others detained by the DB, within 24 hours.

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman gave this ultimatum at an event titled "We Demand Justice for Killing, Illegal Detention, and Torture," held at DRU Sagor-Runi Auditorium at 12 noon on Tuesday.
