Decision to take strict measures to curb violent activities

In a meeting with the President, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, leaders of various political parties, and representatives of civil society, a decision has been made to take strict measures to curb looting and violent activities.

This information was disclosed in a press release issued by the President's press wing on Monday.

It has been reported that during the meeting, a condolence resolution was adopted in memory of those killed in the quota reform movement, and prayers were offered for the repose and peace of their departed souls.

The meeting decided to form an interim government without delay. All stakeholders were urged to exercise patience and tolerance to maintain the country's law and order situation. Additionally, the army was tasked with taking stringent measures to stop looting and violent activities.

The meeting also unanimously decided to release BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia immediately. Furthermore, decisions were made to release detainees involved in the anti-discrimination movement and those recently arrested in various cases. The meeting also established consensus on ensuring that communal harmony is not disrupted in any way.

Attendees at the meeting included BNP's Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mirza Abbas, Jatiya Party's GM Quader, Mujibul Haque Chunnu, and Anisul Islam Mahmud, Nagorik Oikya's Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Hefazat-e-Islam's Mamunul Haque, Mufti Monir Hossain Kasemi, and Mahabubur Rahman, Jamaat-e-Islami's Dr Shafiqur Rahman and Sheikh Md Masud, Major General Fazle Rabbi (Retd), Zaker Party's Shamim Haider, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis's Maulana Jalaluddin Ahmed, Ganosamhati Andolan's Zonayed Saki, Gono Adhikar Parishad's Advocate Golam Sarwar Jewel, Dhaka University professors Asif Nazrul and Firoz Ahmed, and coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Abdullah Al Hossain, Arif Talukdar, Omar Faruq, Mobasshera Karim Mimi, and Engineer Md Anisur Rahman.
