Bangladesh has recorded 350 dengue-related deaths in the first 25 days of September, marking the highest monthly toll.
In August, 342 people died of the Aedes mosquito-borne disease. Throughout this year, the death toll in January stood at six, followed by three in February, two in April, two in May, 34 in June, and 204 in July, reports bdnews24.com in its Facebook page.
The country never had over 300 dengue deaths in a year. In 2022, there were 281 deaths, and in 2019, there were 179.
The country logged 3,123 new dengue cases in the 24 hours to Tuesday morning, taking the tally this year to 193,881 in the worst outbreak of the disease.
The death toll from the mosquito-borne virus increased by 15 to 943 in this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
