Total fatalities from dengue crossed 1,000-mark on Sunday since January this year with the health authorities reporting 17 more deaths during the last 24 hours.
Of the total, nine fatalities were reported in Dhaka city on Sunday while the remaining eight deaths were reported outside the city, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) figures.
However, some 2,882 people were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne diseases across the country during the past 24 hours.
Of the new dengue patients, some 629 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and 2,253 outside the city, according to the DGHS data.
Some 9,357 dengue patients were taking treatment in hospital across the country, 3,120 of them were in Dhaka until Sunday, the DGHS reported.
Since January this year, the total dengue cases reached 2,06,288, it said, adding that 1,95,925 of them had recovered from the disease.
The total death toll from dengue was recorded at 281 while the number dengue cases were 1,23,808 in 2022.
September has so far been the deadliest month for the dengue outbreak this year with 396 fatalities and 79,598 cases, according to DGHS data.
