Dengue toll crosses 100-mark this year

The death toll caused by mosquito-borne dengue has surpassed 100 this year, with three more deaths reported in the last 24 hours until Sunday morning.

The total death toll for the year has now reached 101, with 448 new cases of hospitalisation also reported.

Taking the latest figures into account, the total number of cases has reached 24,183 this year.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed these figures in its daily bulletin.

Of the deceased, two were reported at hospitals in Dhaka South City Corporation, and one in the Chattogram Division.

So far in August, there have been 18 deaths due to dengue, while July saw 41 deaths.

Currently, 1,374 people are receiving treatment at hospitals nationwide, while 22,708 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals this year.

In the same 24-hour period until Sunday morning, no Covid-19 patients were detected out of the 63 samples tested.
