The Bangladesh National Zoo in Mirpur reopened its doors to visitors on Monday after nine days of a shutdown due to the violence during the quota reform protests.
On July 19, the zoo was open but no visitors came there because of the chaos caused by the quota protest.
The government imposed a curfew from midnight on the day. As a result, the zoo authority closed its doors to visitors on July 20, according to local media reports.
Dr Mojibur Rahman, curator of the National Zoo, said they have faced huge losses due to the unrest.
Moreover, the zoo also generates income from separate tickets to the animal museum and children's park which were also closed during this period, he added.
The zoo is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm from today (Monday). However, due to the curfew in the evening, tickets will be given to the visitors till 5:00 pm, said the curator.
