Dismissed Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) members and their families left the Central Shaheed Minar premises on Thursday after a two-day sit-in demanding the release of all BDR detainees involved in the Pilkhana massacre

They will engage in public outreach both online and offline to gather public support on Friday and Saturday. Human chains in front of district press clubs and other locations will be organised on Sunday.

Mahin Sarkar, a member of the executive committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced the protest schedule on behalf of the protesters at a press conference held on Thursday

"We had blocked Shahbagh for a brief period, but no one from the government contacted us. However, towards the end of our two-hour ultimatum, they reached out to us and expressed support, acknowledging our demands as reasonable," he said

"We are expressing doubts about the government's behavior. It's a matter of concern whether someone is pressuring them. Until a final decision is made, our program will continue," he said.

The dismissed BDR members and their families, who are demanding the release of all BDR personnel jailed over the Pilkhana massacre, cancellation of false cases related to the incident, reinstatement of those dismissed, and re-settlement, along with a re-investigation and justice in the Pilkhana massacre case, held a sit-in at the Central Shaheed Minar on Wednesday and Thursday.

Receiving no response, they blocked Shahbagh at around 1:30 pm on Thursday.
