Dismissed trainee sub-inspectors go on hunger strike for reinstatement

Trainee sub-inspectors dismissed for disciplinary violations at the Bangladesh Police Academy began a hunger strike on Monday afternoon, demanding reinstatement. 

The hunger strike started around 4 pm in front of the Secretariat, following a sit-in held earlier in the day. 

Earlier on Jan 5-6, they staged a similar sit-in but halted it after assurances.

While halting the sit-in, they set January 12 as the deadline for their demand to be met.

With their demand unmet by the deadline, they resumed their sit-in the following day, followed by the hunger strike.
