Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in separate mobile court drives on Sunday fined different people and organisations a total of Tk 63,000 for allegedly violating the government’s health guidelines amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Several DMP teams, headed by its executive magistrates, conducted the drives in the capital and also fined 16 shop owners and 11 buses in 27 cases for breaching the guidelines.
The public holiday announced by the government ended several days ago.
However, the government has allowed the reopening of vehicles and shops on a number of conditions to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus.
Members of the law enforcement agencies are working with the field administration to implement the government's directives.
