Newly-appointed Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman has announced to launch of the ‘message to commissioner’ and ‘voice to commissioner’ initiatives so that people can communicate with him directly.

“If people are unable to get proper service at police stations, they should go to the concerned senior officials, including the assistant commissioner, and if they are still unsatisfied, the police will introduce an initiative to allow them to send a message to the commissioner,” Habibur Rahman said at a 'Meet the Press' event at the DMP Media Centre on Monday.

“Anyone can inform him directly through a message if they do not get service even after going to the Detective Branch,” he said, reports bdnews24.com.

“The number for the text or voice messages will soon be announced in a press conference,” Habibur added.

“The types of crime that occur in the DMP area are different to the traditional crimes of theft, burglary, and robbery,” the new Dhaka police chief said.

He said that new types of crime complaints are coming to the DMP and a significant reason for this is technology. He added that The DMP uses advanced technology to control cybercrime and that the force is highly skilled and qualified.

He said the police will take all measures to make Dhaka safe and crime-free.

No rallies, gatherings, or events will be held without police permission, and law enforcers will take fearless action in line with DMP ordinances to ensure this, Habibur said.

The force is also prepared to deal with the challenge of illegal firearms in the upcoming election, he said.
