Mokbul Hossain, public relations officer of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), was attacked by a miscreant on Tuesday night.
He is currently receiving treatment at Dhaka’s United Hospital, according to a bdnews24.com report.
When contacted, the duty manager at the hospital said that, "Mokbul Hossain was brought to the hospital around 9:00 pm. He has sharp weapon injuries on his body."
The duty officer, however, preferred not to be named for this story.
The incident occurred around 8:45 pm at the old revenue department office of DNCC on Road No. 90 in Gulshan.
The DNCC plans to demolish the old office and construct a new building on the vacant plot, which currently serves as a makeshift badminton court for DNCC officials.
DNCC Executive Magistrate Md Shahidul Islam told bdnews24.com that Mokbul was playing badminton after office hours when the incident happened.
“During the game, a helmet-clad man approached Mokbul and called him aside. The man took Mokbul to the roadside and stabbed him in the chest and hands.
"We could not identify the person, nor could Mokbul. The assailant fled on a motorcycle with two others."
"We rushed him to United Hospital in an injured state," he said.
His wounds have been stitched, and he has been admitted to the hospital, he added.
